Method
- In a zip-lock bag, mix the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and minced ginger (if using).
- Add the shrimp to the bag, seal it, and gently massage to coat the shrimp with the marinade.
- Let the shrimp marinate in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. If you're using butter, add it now.
- Remove the shrimp from the marinade (but keep the marinade!) and cook them in the skillet for 1-2 minutes per side until they turn pink and are cooked through.
- Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, stirring to coat the shrimp and let the sauce thicken a bit.
- Take the skillet off the heat and sprinkle with Red Pepper Flakes if you're using them and chopped green onions if you like.
- Serve hot and enjoy your delicious honey garlic shrimp!
Notes
-For a spicier version, add more red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha sauce.
-Serve over rice or with a side of steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
-If using frozen shrimp, make sure to thaw completely before marinating.
-For best results, use large or jumbo shrimp.
